HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
The High School Principal of the Longwood Central School District serves as the instructional leader for a diverse student population of approximately 2,700 students in grades 9-12. The Principal is responsible for fostering a rigorous academic program, a positive school culture, and a collaborative learning environment that supports the academic and social-emotional growth of all students.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS:
♦ Valid NYS certification as a School Administrator & Supervisor (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL)
♦ Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience
♦ Prior successful school-level administrative experience
♦ Thorough knowledge of NYS Learning Standards, ESSA requirements, and NYS assessments
♦ Demonstrated success at raising student achievement for all students including the development and implementation of intervention strategies for academically at-risk students
♦ Uses data effectively to inform instruction, interventions, and continuous improvement
♦ Expertise with College & Career-related curriculum including career academies
♦ Promotes distributed leadership, empowering administrators, teacher leaders, and staff to share
responsibility for school improvement
♦ Builds professional capacity through collaboration, coaching, and shared decision-making
♦ Fosters strong partnerships among students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders
♦ Demonstrates a commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of all students
♦ Experience implementing social-emotional learning initiatives and intervention strategies for at-risk students
♦ Maintains high expectations for student achievement, engagement, attendance, and post-secondary success
♦ Experience with student management systems
♦ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
♦ Outstanding human relations skills and personal professional integrity
