Job Description

COORDINATOR OF STUDENT WELLNESS

The successful candidate will assist the Executive Director of Special Education and Mental Health Services substantially and effectively by providing development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of the K-12 Mental Health program and student attendance

  • Assist the Executive Director of Special Education and Mental Health Services in coordinating mental health and wellness programs among all school buildings.
  • Support the supervision and evaluation process of K-4 school counselors, social workers, nurses, and related staff under the direction of the Executive Director of Special Education and Mental Health Services.
  • Assist in planning and implementing professional development and in-service training for mental health and related staff.
  • Support the implementation of New Teacher Orientation components related to wellness, mental health, and student support.
  • Assist with budget preparation and staffing analysis for mental health and wellness programs.
  • Monitor and analyze student attendance data in collaboration with building administrators to identify patterns and areas of concern.
  • Coordinate intervention programs for students with excessive absences under the supervision of the Executive Director of Special Education and Mental Health Services.
  • Serve as a liaison for students in transitional housing, ensuring appropriate communication and support between schools, families, and community agencies.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of Restorative Practices and PBIS K-12, providing coaching and technical support to schools.
  • District Section 504 Coordinator.
  • District Dignity Act Coordinator.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and program evaluation related to the district’s comprehensive School Counseling Program and wellness initiatives.

Qualifications

  • NYS-SDA/SDL required
  • Additional NYS Certification as a provider of mental health services (i.e. school counselor, school psychologist, or school social worker)
  • 5 years of successful experience as a provider of mental health services in a school setting.
  • Considerable knowledge of policies and practices of public school administration
  • Thorough understanding of mental health services provided in a school setting and related areas as set forth by New York State Education Law. 
  • Candidate must possess excellent communication skills

Salary:                 Contractual as per MIAA contract.

Reports to:         Executive Director of Special Education and Mental Health Services.
