ANTICIPATED 

ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT FOR INSTRUCTION & LEARNING 

 

The Longwood Central School District is seeking an outstanding educational leader to serve as Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Learning.  The selected candidate should be an innovative leader who should be student-centered, dynamic, and unrelenting in their pursuit to achieve greater school outcomes for the children of the Longwood community.

Qualifications:

5 years minimum administrative experience

Building level and district level experience

SDA OR SDL Certification 

  • Promotes and demonstrates the District’s Mission, Vision, and Values 
  • Demonstrates a collaborative leadership style, a firm commitment to high standards while fostering a positive and respectful learning and work environment
  • Assists with the formulation of the District’s goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Supervision and evaluation of Principals and Directors as well as review of the performance of instructional staff.
  • Facilitates faculty and staff understanding of effective instructional strategies and the implementation of a viable and aligned curriculum 
  • Collaboratively develops programs and associated training to focus on immediate and long-range program needs
  • Participates in the selection, orientation, and mentoring of faculty and staff
  • Uses relevant data to lead the District toward continuous improvement
  • Oversees instructional technology,  and supervises the District’s assessment programs
  • Develops and facilitates professional learning opportunities for employees of the District
  • Leads professional meetings and District-wide committees
  • Fosters positive and constructive relations between the school and community
  • Successful experience in teaching, supervision of staff, and overall school administration.  
  • Academic study in curriculum development and instructional practices with the integration of technology. 
  • Preferred experience with current and in-bound Federal and State initiatives, including but not limited to, ESSA, APPR, & STEAM. 
  • Excellent human relations skills.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide leadership in the Pre K-12 development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services including General Education, Special Education and ELLs.
  • Liaison to the BOE Policy Committee  
  • Assist in the formulation of the philosophy and objectives for the instructional program. 
  • Experience with the development and implementation of action plans for continuous improvement.  
  • Ability to provide staff development by analyzing data from the data warehouse. 
  • Preferred experience with administrative and instructional technology preferred.
  • Oversee Competitive and Non-competitive Grants, including the ESSA Consolidated Grant Application 

Certification: Valid NYS Administrative Certification required SDA or SDL
